A clear rhythm to follow

Box breathing has four phases: inhale, hold, exhale and hold. BreathFriend marks the phase changes so you can follow the rhythm without counting every second. The preset is a starting point; custom timing lets you change what feels too fast or too slow.

A transition between tasks

Use a short session before reading, writing or starting another block of work. Setting a small, repeatable break can make it easier to include breathing in your day. The app does not score your attention or promise a productivity increase.

Quiet cues at your desk

Choose haptics on a compatible watch when sound would interrupt someone nearby. On your phone, use the visual breathing guide or a transition voice. Set up the cues before you start so the session needs fewer interactions.

Before you start

Is box breathing required?

No. If holds are uncomfortable, choose another preset or use custom timing. A comfortable rhythm matters more than following a particular count.

Can I try a timer before installing?

Yes. The website has a browser breathing timer with box breathing and custom timing. It works without an account.

Does this improve concentration?

The app provides a guided break. It does not measure attention or guarantee improved concentration.
